Global Warming

So I was sitting there last night watching yet another debate between so-called 'experts' on the two extreme sides of the issue of climate change and global warming. It's always a good thing to make sure you try and understand the other guy's point of view, right?
Then I got to thinking.....
What if it turns out the environmentalists are right?
...and since tomorrow is the big day, let's hear it all together now on three...

I am a rational, logical guy. There is not one shred of confirmed scientific evidence to support the aspect of global warming being caused by man-made conditions, or even global warming itself in it's strictest definition. While shards of the icecaps may be melting, the CORE of those icebergs is increasing due to the COLDEST conditions ever in the Antartic. THAT is scientific fact. No one really knows..the just need a disaster to rant about. 20 years ago they claimed that we would all die in a new ice age by 1997 if we didn't act RIGHT AWAY. Well, we didn't and yet here we are, still toasty and warm..the sun's temp has increased by 1 degree, which may explain the warmer climates here on earth, but until there is more proof I have to side with the rationalists over the hardcore environmentalists on this one. Sorry for the long rant :)

Shane: I'm guessing you have an opinion on this issue! (No prob about the rant, that's what blogs are for). I guess the only thing I'd be curious in hearing is what kind of proof would you accept as being needed first(..."until there is more proof...")?

Just something to show a solid "cause and effect", y'know? Reliable scientific data that shows beyond a doubt that it is OUR meddling that has raised the environment's temperature by that pesky 1 degrees and not that it is just some natural cycle that the earth goes through. We have not been here long enough to even know what is normal and what is not. I concede that the sun is hotter, therefore the earth is warming. What I don't buy is the hardcore environmentalist approach that it is all our fault for sraying hairspray in the air, because there is no hard data to back up those claims. Have a great weekend, Evy!
