Positive Thinking

Don't be discouraged by a failure. It can be a positive experience. Failure is, in a sense, the highway to success, inasmuch as every discovery of what is false leads us to seek earnestly after what is true." - John Keats

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.” - Albert Einstein

Success is that old ABC -- ability, breaks, and courage.” - Charles Luckman

I have been really big into all these "Here's a recipe for whatever" kinds of things, like the doggie-do thing yesterday. As I continue to sort through all my accumulated "stuff" that, in a sense, represents my life I keep coming across various ones that I had posted for a time at my desk at work, or on the fridge, or the bathroom mirror for morning affirmations.

Again, I have to decide whether I chuck them or keep them. Truth be told, there really is no rational reason to keep them, unlike the "historic" family documents and pictures I've been putting up the last little while. I just find it so darned hard to throw anything out. I mean, there was a reason I have it in the first place, right?

Anyway, here's one I came across yesterday that I thought was worth sharing. Just before I get to it, check out the third quote at the start if you haven't already and then check the author's name. Pretty cool, eh?!!!

Suggestions For Success

1. Learn to laugh. It is jogging for your soul.

2. Be flexible. Learn to change. Change is inevitable.

3. Don't say anything about yourself or others that can hurt.

4. Clear the decks for action. Paper pushers get passed over.

5. Set your goals. Know where you want to go. Know why and when.

6. Keep track of your time. Be on time.

7. Put your attitude on "Positive". MBA = Management By Attitude.

8. If you can't learn to love your job, find one you can.

9. Everyone you know can help you. Have your own Yellow Pages.

10. Start where you are and finish what you start.

11. Problems are solved by trial and error.

12. Criticism goes with the territory. Take it without getting upset.

13. Visibility counts. Wherever you are, BE there.

14. Need has nothing to do with worth.

15. Make the job you have worth more.

16. The best way to get something is to ask for it.

17. Win or lose --- lightly and quietly --- with grace.

18. When you look competent and professional, you will feel that way, and convince others that you are.

19. None of these rules will work unless you do.

My personal favorites are 1, 10, 14 and 16.

PEACE.

I've got a good recipe for making beer out of dandelion flowers... if you want it.

:)

I like # 17......more poeple need to learn how to be gracious winners & losers.

Dandelion Beer??? I have heard of dandelion wine but not beer!

Interesting! That was my reaction, too, Mackey, My Mom made dandelion wine a couple times, but I've never heard of the beer version. I'm not a beer-drinker anyway. I'm still trying to figure out the thought connection between the blog and your entry, Jas. Am I being obtuse, or are you being subtle?!!

AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Word verification here is is 'dbloya'. I thought we had dropped "politics" as a hot potato subject! (double-ya...get it?!!) Sorry...slow start to the morning.

"The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and three hundred and sixty-two admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision." - Lynne Lavner*** I'm confused; curious; satisfied; realistically resigned to being a frustrated idealist; usually at peace with myself, but not always. Amazed at how little I know, and wondering how much I need to understand.
