The Next Batch - Part 2

Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push. A smile. A word of optimism and hope. And you can do it when things are tough.” - Richar M. DeVos

People deal too much with the negative, with what is wrong...Why not try and see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom?” - Thich Nhat Hanh

Persons are judged to be great because of the positive qualities they possess, not because of the absence of faults” - anon

And now for Part 2 of 101 Wonderful Ways To Start Making 2007 The Most Joyous Year Of Your Life

11. Eat breakfast sumptuously. All your favorite nutrition-rich, wake-up foods: oranges, eggs, Irish oatmeal, whole wheat cinnamon rolls. It will dramatically improve your day, your week, your health.

12. "Have you heard a rumor? Let it die with you. Never fear...it will not make you burst" the ancients promised. (A rumour wounds three people: the one who passes it, the one who listens, and the one about whom it is said.)

13. Decide where you want to be on your next birthday...and make plans to make it happen.

14. Start an indoor garden [Ed: note...no, not THAT kind!]. A sweet potato in a glass of water sprouts beautiful vinelike leaves: ditto carrot tops. Grow basil and parsley from seed on your kitchen windowsill. From a humble avocado pit shoots will reach towards the heights, weather storms bear fruit. An apt metaphor for the new year.

15. Bake spectacular bread. Turn the time it takes to knead and rise into private reflection time.

16. Hire a limousine and driver. Pick up the person you love the most and take him/her on an unexpected journey. ($30 or less in most cities, often much less} [Ed note: This article was written in 1984] Pack in a basket, two glasses, and Champagne.

17. Start a scrapbook. Fill it wih clips and pictures pertaining to the single person, place or subject that most engrosses you.

18. Give a children's party. If you have no children, borrow some. There's no joy more contagious than that of those under 10.

19. Walk a mile a day. It's the best all-round exercise going, and will help release some of your best thoughts.

20. Take ballroom dancing lessons with your favorite partner. Yes, the waltz! The tango! The two-step! Romance has returned. Touch dancing is back to stay.

(to be cont'd)

P.S. I appreciate hearing which ones appeal to everyone --- just to show our diversity if nothing else --- but also to find out a bit more about each of you....so keep the comments flowing!! Maybe we'll have a "contest" at the end to see which acivities are more likey to be the most intended to be tried, as well as the least likely!

PEACE.

I love the limo
idea!!!
I will definitley have to check into that.
Ilove to go for walks & do that often. It's too cold today though. Brrrr.
I do scrapbook & I find it very therapeutic.
Thanks for all the great ideas Rick.

O.K. Not too sure what that was about but the previous comment was me!

Well spoken about rumors my friend!

I don't know, I don't scrapbook, I am not a fan of breakfast unless you count coffee, I really live for gossip and I don't like children other than my own... but I like the indoor garden, those plastic trees are great.... and I like the limo idea, I need a designated driver once in while... but never the ballroom dance after Dancin with the Stars became a hit, every low life single joined those classes hoping to score... What about, taking a minute everyday, to take a deep breath, and relax.... ya know, I heard relaxation techniques are for more than clearing up hiccups...

Shroom-Monkey: It sounds to me like you're going to have a piss-unhappy 2007. I'm not glad! Too bad! So sad! You have my deepest something-or-other.

To the others: Thanks muchly for your feedack.

no way dude, it is gonna rock, just those didn't work for me.... ok, ok, gotta channel positivity.....mmmmmmm lemme see, gonna do some traveling, gonna try some camping, gonna enroll my puppy in obdience classes... gonna loose that last 10 pounds and rock a bikini this summer....

seee- not soo piss unhappy!!!

Rock on! You got the right spirit!!!
