An Intriguing Day
“I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.” -anon
“As a general rule, I abstain from reading reports of attacks upon myself, wishing not to be provoked by that to which I cannot properly offer an answer” - Abraham Lincoln
“A dog without teeth will also attack a bone” - Yiddish Proverb
“If you hear that someone is speaking ill of you, instead of trying to defend yourself you should say: "He obviously does not know me very well, since there are so many other faults he could have mentioned" - Epictetus
“Almost any man worthy of his salt would fight to defend his home, but no one ever heard of a man going to war for his boarding house." - Mark Twain
“Society must take every means at its disposal to defend itself against the emergence of a parallel power which defies the elected power.” Pierre Elliot Trudeau
There is a reason for having six quotes today, instead of the normal three. You'll notice that the first three accomodate the concept of "attack", while the latter three deal with "defense".
My reason for doing this is as a result of my "computer time" yesterday. As I was working on various things, from time to time a small window in the lower right corner of the screen would rise from its hiding spot, generated by Norton, and say:
"Your computer is under attack by an outside entity. The attack has successfully been blocked." This happened five or six times during the day.
It got me to thinking about relationships, reasons why people do what they do, things that are important and things that aren't. After some time, I figured maybe they weren't trying to attack me at all --- maybe they just wanted to play with me.
The more I thought about that, the more I rejected the idea. If that had been the case, you'd think they'd just identify themselves and we could have a good game of online checkers or something. So I finally decided it was a "bad" thing, but with my new, Rockin' Rick, keep 'er calm and steady attitude, I simply decided:
...and went back to work. After all, I had all the armies of Norton out there successfully defending me.
So, what will I be doing today? Well, just to be on the "safe" side, I'm going to go into safe mode as Supervisor and see if I can discover any anomolies. This comes from someone who can at least get as far as :
!!
So, it should be an interesting (and hopefully informative) day as I go on this treasure hunt of my computer's innards. And if I REALLY screw things up, it'll be new computer time for sure. So, not to worry if I'm "off air" for awhile. It just means I found the mighty dragon, and wasn't able to slay it, or it got me before I could find it. Hey---instead of online checkers, we can play hide-and-go-seek! Cool!
But in all seriousness, why do people do things like that? It really makes you wonder. It's certainly beyond my comprehension.
Everyone have a great, cool and happy day. I'll see you on the flipside.
PEACE.
I`M SO UNPROTECTED! COME BACK SOON HONEY.
